National Guard Competition Event 

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 the NJ National Guard will be conducting a competition involving their personnel along the Delaware River.

Helicopters will be used to drop personnel off on the Pennsylvania side of Washington Crossing Park. Participants will then travel by inflatable boat across the river. Participants will then run south along the canal path.

The participants will then turn around and complete this same course in reverse.

This event is scheduled to take place between 7 AM and 12 PM.  


Road Construction Announcement

On or about Monday, April 10, 2017 Mercer County D.O.T. will be milling and paving Carter Road (CH 569) between Pennington Rocky Hill Road (Mt. Rose intersection) and Princeton Avenue in Hopewell Borough.

Work will occur Monday through Friday between 9 am and 3 pm. The road will be closed to through traffic during these hours. Full access will be permitted during non-working hours.

Motorists will be directed to use East Broad Street/Hopewell-Rocky Hill Road (CH 518), Province Line Road, and Cherry Valley Road.

This work is anticipated to take approximately 20 working days.


Bridge Reconstruction Notice

On or about Monday, December 5, 2016 the Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will start the rehabilitation of the two bridges on River Drive, one over Fiddlers Creek, and one over Steele Run, which have been closed for over three years.

Sections of River Drive, near these two bridges, will remain closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration of the project.

This project is to be completed in 150 calendar days, weather permitting.

Lance Maloney

Lance Maloney is the department’s fifth full time Chief of Police. Chief Maloney was appointed to the Chief's position on January 1, 2014. He began his career with the Hopewell Township Police Department in January of 1994.

He is a graduate of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police West Point Command and Leadership Program, The FBI National Academy 241st Session and The Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar.

Chief Maloney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Law and Justice from Trenton State College.


Lt. William Springer

Lieutenant William Springer joined the Hopewell Township Police Department in August of 1998 as a 9-1-1 dispatcher and was promoted to the rank of patrol officer in February of 2000. Lieutenant Springer functions as the department’s administrative officer overseeing the detective bureau, the communications center and the records bureau.

Lieutenant Springer is a graduate of the Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar. He holds an Associate of Science degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, a Bachelor of Science in Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a Masters of Arts in Leadership and Public Administration from Centenary College.


Lt. Christopher Kascik

Lieutenant Christopher Kascik joined the Hopewell Township Police Department in February of 1994 as a 9-1-1 dispatcher and was promoted to the rank of patrol officer in February of 1996. Lieutenant Kascik functions as the department’s operations officer overseeing the patrol division as well as the traffic unit.

Lt. Kascik has attended the FBI Supervision School for Municipal Law Enforcement and is currently attending Caldwell University in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
