Dispatcher (Full-time) - Hopewell Township Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Dispatcher. This position is responsible for receiving and processing requests for emergency/non-emergency assistance and to dispatch emergency medical, law enforcement, fire, or other agency resources. PER DIEM ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR – Hopewell Twp. (Mercer) - Inspects electrical installations to ensure compliance with the NJ Uniform Construction Code. Inspects new buildings and structures to ensure compliance with the State Uniform Construction Code and enforces same to ensure public safety, health, welfare, complaint investigations, computer entries & communications with property owners & contractors; completes related work as required. Requirements: Applicants must have a valid license as an Electrical Inspector issued by NJ Dept. of Community Affairs. Commercial experience is required. Multiple licenses preferred. Applicant must be highly motivated, detail orientated and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE, (Part-time) - HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP (MERCER) – Seeking a Part-time Public Health Nurse to ensure the delivery of essential public health services as set forth by N.J.A.C. 8:52. Under direction, teaches, counsels, conducts epidemiological investigations, and provides public health nursing services in homes and clinics to individuals and families in the community. Uses knowledge from nursing, social, and public health sciences to promote and protect the health of the population. Maximum 21 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Conducts communicable disease investigations consistent with N.J.A.C. 8:57 using the New Jersey Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance System (CDRSS).
- Conducts investigations of suspected disease outbreaks, visiting suspected areas and conducting interviews to compile information on symptoms and exposures.
- Implements actions to curtail the spread of communicable diseases by instructing high-risk individuals or groups in the proper control measures.
- Provides public health nursing services, including blood pressure screenings, and conducts health assessments in homes, clinics, and schools. Visit the homes of individuals or families to evaluate health needs and potential hazards in the home.
- Responds to health questions from the community and provides health education services related to maternal and child health programming, senior health, and school health.
- Administers vaccines with standing orders. Maintains inventory and records both manually and electronically in the New Jersey Immunization Information System (NJIIS).
- Conducts immunization audits at schools and childcare centers.
- Monitors and ensures follow-up on all identified cases of elevated blood lead levels.
- Assists the Township with occupational health compliance matters including but not limited to bloodborne pathogens and respiratory protection.
- Maintains confidential medical records and files with discretion and professionalism.
- Compiles monthly, quarterly, and annual nursing reports as required by the Health Officer.
- Provides clinical guidance in public health emergency preparedness and response.
Qualifications
- Candidate must have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university and hold a current and valid registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
- One (1) year of experience in a public health field or nursing experience gained while working under the close supervision of a licensed public health nurse.
- In-depth knowledge of public health regulations, procedures, and responsibilities of specific public health concerns, basic knowledge of theories, methods and practices.
- Knowledge of interview techniques and the methods used to gather data. Ability to evaluate health needs and environmental hazards and develop health care plans in conjunction with other professionals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during times of crisis and distress.
- Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Federal, State and Local Officials, Department Heads, employees, public health professionals, and the general public.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position; second or multiple languages a plus.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must be technologically proficient in Microsoft Office products, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer applications.
- Must possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
- Hourly rate: $25.00 to $48.00
