Babesiosis cases are on the rise in our region. This flu-like illness, spread by ticks, often affects people over age 60. Prevention measures include avoiding wooded areas with dense shrubs and leaf litter, wearing protective clothing, using insect repellents, performing tick checks, mowing the lawn, and keeping shrubs trimmed.
