On Thursday, February 23, Hopewell Township Mayor Michael Ruger accepted a symbolic check for $48,000 from Mercer County. The funds, which came from the American Rescue Plan Act, will be used towards the design of the new Senior and Community Center.
“I am very pleased to accept this check on behalf of the residents of Hopewell Township,” said Mayor Ruger. “We look forward to continuing working with Pennington and Hopewell Boroughs, as well as our community partners, on the new Senior and Community Center.”
Randi Malkiewicz, Hopewell Valley’s Senior Services Coordinator, says, “The seniors of Hopewell Valley have waited a long time for a new center. I am thrilled we are on the way to provide this for them.”
Planning for the Senior and Community Center is well underway. Meetings have been held with various stakeholders and the public, and the needs of the community have been determined. The next stage will be architectural design. “Additional announcements about the center will be coming soon,” said Mayor Ruger.
