The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has declared Air Quality Action Days for Particulate Matter today (Wednesday) and tomorrow. Levels of fine particulates will rise into the unhealthy category due to wildfire smoke transport from eastern Canadian wildfires. If you are a member of a sensitive group, such as those with heart or lung disease, the elderly, and the young, you may experience more serious health effects. Some members of the general public may also experience health effects. NJDEP recommends limiting strenuous activities and the amount of time active outdoors, especially in the evening hours.air quality and health

In addition, ozone is forecast to reach the moderate category as sunny skies, light winds, and warm temperatures are forecast. Sunny skies are forecast for much of the day on Thursday, with clouds and showers advancing southward. This will cause ozone to reach the low moderate category as sunshine increases. Be sure to protect yourself!

Fire Danger very high with map of NJFire is a major concern right now, due to dry conditions, caused by the lack of rain and humidity. Our area, considered part of North Jersey by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, is under Stage 3 Restrictions. No agricultural or charcoal fires are allowed. All fires in wooded areas will be prohibited unless contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas, gas, or electricity.
