[ARCHIVED] Flu Vaccination Clinics in October

Public Health logo

The Health Department is offering two more flu vaccination clinics during October. Scientists studying the flu circulating in the Southern Hemisphere have found this year’s flu vaccine to be a good match! People from five South American countries who received their 2023 flu vaccine were less likely to be hospitalized –and for young children, older adults, and people with preexisting conditions, hospitalizations were reduced by 50%. So far, most flu viruses identified in the United States have been A(H1N1) and B/Victoria viruses, and this is similar to what was seen among the Southern Hemisphere countries in the study. CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get an annual flu vaccine, ideally before the end of October to build immunity. For more information, visit https://www.cdc.gov/flu/highrisk/index.htm
