[ARCHIVED] Notice of Road Work: Various Roads (Micro Paving)

Various Roads

Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey

Beginning on or about September 8, 2017 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm various roads will be resurfaced by micro paving. The following roads will receive this treatment:

•Hopewell-Amwell Road

•Pennington-Titusville Road (Scotch Road to Route 579)

•Pleasant Valley Road (Route 579 to Valley Road)

•Poor Farm Road

•Province Line Road (Bedens Brook to Hopewell-Amwell Road)

•Van Dyke Road (north of Route 518)

•Woosamonsa Road

•Yard Road

•Featherbed Lane (west)

The work will take up to two (2) weeks to complete (weather permitting).

Micro Paving involves the spreading of a thin layer of liquid asphalt premixed in a specialized truck with sand and fine stone. As this layer hardens it turns black in color.  This will be the final surface on your roadway.

This work will be performed in a manner that completes one-half of the road at a time. During the work, no on-street parking will be permitted. In addition, use of driveways along the work area is prohibited while the materials harden. Hardening can take up to 2 hours, weather depending. Please have all lawn irrigation systems shut down between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:30 pm.   Contractor personnel on-site will be available to help you during these restricted time periods.

Roads will be open to school buses, emergency vehicles, garbage trucks and local residents at all times.  Contractor personnel on-site will help direct movement trough the work area.

Working with liquid asphalt is challenging.  Liquid asphalt when wet will stick to shoes, clothing, cars and paws. It is extremely difficult to remove.  Please do not drive, walk or allow pets near any wet material.

The Township and our contractors, Top Line Construction Corp. and Asphalt Paving Systems, thank you in advance for your cooperation during these much needed improvements.
