Meet Jessalyn Waldron, Floating Clerk, who is currently with the Health Department.
Jessalyn Waldron has been a part of the Hopewell Township team for four months. She has been working with the Health Department since she arrived, helping with the community vaccination program.
Originally from Holmdel and raised in Cream Ridge, Jessalyn and her husband Eli have been residents of Hopewell Township for two years. She is a graduate of Allentown High School and the University of Maryland in College Park, where she earned a BS in Kinesiology from the School of Public Health.
Before coming to the Township, Jessalyn worked in an intensive care unit for five years as a patient care technician, working closely with the nurses who provide care to critically ill patients. She came to Hopewell Township looking for a change of lifestyle while still being able to help people and make a positive impact on their daily lives. Her work with the Health Department has done just that.
At the Health Department, Jessalyn says, “My short-term goal was to work my way through the Health Department’s substantial vaccine waiting list, which was accomplished recently.” She has been in contact with more than 2000 residents regarding the vaccine since January. Next, she is planning to help organize the Health Department’s records and files. As a floater, she will have the opportunity to work in other departments, which will allow her to learn about the various roles within the township and see how things operate behind the scenes.
Jessalyn is currently enrolled at the Center for Government Services at Rutgers, from where she expects to have the Municipal Clerk program completed within two years. She hopes to have a long career in the municipal field in various roles and positions.
Jessalyn loves working where she lives. She has enjoyed interacting and getting to know the community and says she has learned more about her town in the few months she has worked here than she did living here for two years.
As you can see from the attached picture, Jessalyn loves parks, especially with her dog, a yellow lab named Charley. She frequents our local parks and visits a new national park every summer. Other things she enjoys during the few hours she is not working or studying are cooking, especially Asian-inspired dishes, and gardening.
