From the NJ Department of Environmental Protection- An Ozone Action Day has been declared for Tuesday, July 27th, 2021! Ozone has the potential to reach unhealthy levels for the sensitive groups category for locations along and south of the I-95 corridor. Sensitive individuals, including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and early evening hours. Due to wildfire smoke from the west, levels of fine particulates will remain elevated in the high moderate category, with the potential for some locations to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category. 7/28 - A cold front will move through the region Wednesday, bringing northerly winds and the chance of showers and thunderstorms. As a result, ozone will remain in the moderate category across New Jersey. Levels of fine particulates will also remain in the moderate category statewide.
