The Hopewell Township Committee has firmly and unanimously opposed the PennEast Pipeline from the beginning, and each of us, along with local advocacy groups, environmental organizations, and Hopewell Township residents, has worked tirelessly towards the decision that was ultimately made this week. We are relieved that the project’s cancellation will save our open space, farmland, drinking water, and the safety of our residents, one out of every seven of whom would have lived in the PennEast “blast zone” had it been built as planned.
This decision is a testament to the power of thoughtful, committed citizens and local governments to protect the environment through collective action and advocacy. Thanks to everyone who joined us in the fight over the many years.
