Mercer County Milling and Resurfacing Project starts March 21 on Bear Tavern Road (CR 579), in Ewing and Hopewell Townships.
On or about Monday, March 21, 2022, a milling and resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on Bear Tavern Road (CR 579) from Maddock Road to Scenic Drive in Ewing and Hopewell Townships. Mercer County anticipates that this work will take approximately four (4) weeks, weather permitting.
Work will be completed in three (3) phases:
- The first phase consists of milling and paving the section of Bear Tavern Road from Nursery Road to Jacobs Creek Road in Ewing Township. During this time Bear Tavern Road will be closed to through traffic. A detour would be posted directing motorists to use Nursery Road, Scotch Road, Washington Crossing Road, and Jacobs Creek Road.
- The second phase will be milling and paving of Bear Tavern Road between Jacobs Creek Road and Maddock Road in Hopewell Township. Again, Bear Tavern Road will be closed to through traffic with motorists will be directed to use Nursery Road, Scotch Road, Washington Crossing Road, and Jacobs Creek Road.
- The third phase will be milling and paving Bear Tavern Road between Nursery Road and Scenic Drive in Ewing Township. During this time, traffic on Bear Tavern Road will be maintained at all times with half-road closures and single-lane direction traffic. Please note that during the staged operation, motorists may experience delays.
Road work and detours will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Access will be permitted for local businesses, residents, and service and emergency vehicles.
